Advanced Physics course
Overview of class environment and pedagogy
Student’s class sessions will meet MTWTF for 58 minutes. Laboratory experiments will be conducted during these time sessions. During a course hour, students will be involved in analysis, problem solving, investigations and experimental inquiry, and decision- making skills based on reflection of lab data.
The Physics is an algebra-based course in general Physics. This course is covered in two semesters. The emphasis in this course is on understanding the concepts of physics and applying these concepts in problems and laboratory situations. Laboratory work, generation of data, and analysis of data will be covered as an integral part of this course. Students will be expected to complete one laboratory day per week. Students will also be expected to participate in out of class computer simulation labs where data is analyzed and collected.
Students will achieve their success through use of active and cooperative learning. Students will be exposed to a variety of note-taking skills, reading strategies, and writing strategies that will help them succeed and gain independence within their own study time outside of class. Students will also master both analytical physics problems as well as conceptual problems.
